POPULATION SURVEY PROJECT A
project of the CENTER FOR NUTRACEUTICAL STUDIES Population Survey Project (PSP) is a project
of the Center for Nutraceutical Studies, a non-profit group dedicated
to the prevention of certain preventable pre- and post-natal nutritionally
deficiency and stress-induced diseases through education and the collaborative
use of naturally occurring substances called nutraceuticals and traditional
pharmaceuticals and vaccines. PSP will be working with U.S. and foreign medical institutions and physicians to establish study protocols, structure surveys, analyze data and oversee the projects using strict scientific methodologies. PSP was launched in the Summer of 2000, when it issued a charter grant to the National Nutraceutical Research Institute, a joint project of the Medical University of South Carolina, Clemson University and the University of South Carolina, to undertake a double-blind study on the efficacy of ellagic acid on the reduction of the human papallioma virus and the resulting incidence of cervical cancer, its related disease. This study is being conducted through the state health department system with a random sampling of 500 participants. In a related effort, PSP is conducting a national survey of physicians and patients on their use of ellagic acid and the observable benefits and side effects of its measured use. This survey will involve over 1,000 respondents and physicians, and will collect data and subsidize the expense of the use of an ellagic acid product for one year. A sister project is being planned in Madrid, Spain to work with the University and Health Ministry there to! conduct a companion double-blind study to adjust or measure for possible variances or effects which exists due to diet and gene pool segmentation. A second project of PSP is being launched in the refugee camps of Western Sahara and the northern provinces of Tajikistan. Using the medical professionals currently in place, a base-line survey will be conducted on the incidence of the human papallioma virus in the refugee and dislocated populations of these two areas under sever stress. The physicians will be using satellite communications to coordinate and conduct the survey with the National Nutraceutical Research Institute, and will present their results after a year of study. CNS, through PSP, will provide a partial grant to fund the study and cost of supplies and communications. CNS will be encouraging other NGOs such as Shelter for Life to participate and offer their support and services to coordinate activities on the ground. The Center encourages these multi-partner projects by providing charter grants consisting of funds and nutraceutical subsidies in portions to be generally matched by the medical, private, governmental and corporate organizations. POI projects are chartered to various established medical teaching institutions, hospitals and non-governmental institutions which have a sincere commitment to expand their teaching, outreach and humanitarian purpose to help improve the life of human kind.
