National
Nutraceutical Research Institute:
The National Nutraceutical Research Institute is located in Charleston,
South Carolina. NNRI is a joint project of the Medical University
of South Carolina, Clemson University and the University of South
Carolina to conduct studies and promote research into the development,
use and value of naturally occurring substances called nutraceuticals.
NNRI engages in scientific studies, formulations and acts as a clearing
house for research, news and medical professionals who are interested
in working together through this one central location. Dr. David
Gangemi is the Institute Director and works extensively with the
public and private sectors to design and conduct studies, surveys
and research projects.

Shelter
For Life, International:
Shelter for Life (Shelter Now International) is a humanitarian relief
and development organization working with refugees and internally
dislocated people throughout the world to help rebuild their lives
and communities which have been lost as a result of civil strife,
war or natural disaster. SFL not only rebuilds homes, but also hospitals,
schools and commercial infrastructure so that refugees can restart
their lives and communities. One of the key aspects of SFL is its
full-scope approachfrom nutrition to medical, housing to small
micro businessesthat helps people regain what they have lost.
SFL has operations in over 10 countries around the world, and has
been helping refugees for over 20 years.

Medical
University of South Carolina: The Medical University of
South Carolina is a long-established teaching and research university
located in Charleston, South Carolina. MUSC has become an international
leader in distance diagnosis through high-speed and satellite communications.
Using video conferencing and special video/audio equipment, MUSC
physicians can assist in the diagnosis, procedures and treatment
of disease without the need to be present at the remote site. MUSC
is also taking a lead in the study and efficacy of nutraceuticals
in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases, and using this
knowledge to create formulations of naturally occuring minerals
and substances which may have pronounced benefits if used by patients
under the care and supervision of physicians or health-care professionals.
